EVENTS, ACTIVITIES, AND DEADLINES

 

Art Gala

The Unionville PTO Art Gala Committee is honored to announce two featured senior student artists for this year's art gala:   Margaret Clisham and Helen Nichols.  Come view their talented artwork on special display along with many other students at this years' gala September 17th from 6-9pm and September 18th from 11am-4pm.

 

Spring Play

Next Wednesday, November 15th, there will be auditions for the Spring Play at UHS.

Please come with a prepared comedic monologue and meet at the auditorium at 3:00.

Earth Club

There will be an Earth Club meeting Thursday, November 16th in room 210 directly after school.  New members are encouraged!

 

NAHS

NAHS will be collecting donations for Hardin Jefferson's Henderson Middle School Art Department now until Thanksgiving.  Donations or gift cards to Hobby Lobby, Michaels or Walmart can be dropped off to Mrs Dilworth in room 288. Help us get the art department back up and running!

 

UCSD Coat Drive

TIME TO CLEAN THE CLOSET!
Please consider donating clean (no stains please!) gently-used or new coats, hoodies, hats, mittens/gloves to the Annual UCFSD Coat Drive. All sizes and styles, infant through adult are needed. Donations can be dropped off in the lobbies of any UCFSD school starting on October 23rd and ending on December 7th. Collected items will be distributed in December to over 500 local families in need. Questions?

The Technical College High School will be at UHS on 11/17 to present about the programs they offer.  Please sign up in the Counseling Center to attend. The presentations will run as follows:

1st period: TCHS Career programs 

2nd period: Allied Health

3rd period: Teacher Academy

CHESTER COUNTY COLLEGE FAIR

Monday, November 13, 2017, 7PM- 9PM
Exton Square Mall 260 Exton Square Parkway, Exton, PA 19341
Participating Institutions- High school students and their parents will be able to meet with representatives and talk about admission requirements, campus life, scholarships, tuition and undergraduate programs of study. Colleges, universities, technical schools, trade schools, and the armed forces will all be represented.  Admission is free!

The College Fair is organized by the Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) on behalf of the guidance counselors of Chester County. For a list of participating institutions, please click here.

Juniors and seniors are encouraged to participate in the college visits occurring during the fall months. Visits are posted on the Counseling Center website calendar, and in Naviance. Students should sign up for a pass in the Counseling Center at least one day before the visit.

Seniors- First Quarter Grade Reports

Seniors wanting to send their first marking period grades to colleges to which they have already applied, must complete a green Request to Submit First Marking Period Grades form. The request forms are available in the Counseling Center. Please submit your request form no later than Friday, November 17, 2017.

After November 17th, the Counseling Center will automatically send your first marking period grades with school documents when you submit the pink UHS College Application Transcript Request form. 

 

ALL SOPHOMORES! HUGH O'BRIAN YOUTH LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE

It's time again to select sophomore ambassadors to represent UHS at the HOBY Youth Leadership Conference. This 3-day leadership seminar (6/8/18-6/10/18) will give 2 sophomores an opportunity to interact with nationally and internationally renowned leaders in business, government and education. Please see the Counseling Center website under Leadership & Enrichment for more information and an application. Applications are due by 11/27.

THE TECHNICAL COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL WILL BE AT UHS ON 11/17 TO PRESENT ABOUT THE PROGRAMS THEY OFFER. 

Please sign up in the Counseling Center to attend. The presentations will run as follows:

Juniors should be researching the schools they are interested in for good times to visit campuses. Many colleges offer both fall and spring open houses. Please check out their websites and also http://njsca.org/pa-open-houses for a comprehensive list of open houses.

 

 

SUMMER ENRICHMENT

There is a comprehensive listing of summer enrichment opportunities in Naviance. In Family Connection, go to COLLEGES, then under COLLEGE RESEARCH, choose ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS. Many of these programs have early deadlines and there is a cost involved.

 

FREE SUMMER ENRICHMENT- PENNSYLVANIA SCHOOL FOR EXCELLENCE IN THE AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES

Hosted by the College of Agricultural Sciences at the Penn State University Park Campus will be held from July 8 to August 3, 2018. A 4-week summer residential program held on University Park campus for academically talented and gifted high school students (rising seniors) from throughout PA. This program is free to participants and is sponsored by Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences.

Indoor Track and Field

There will be an informational indoor track and field meeting on Wednesday, Nov 15th in the LGI from 2:55 - 3:25.

 

Boys Basketball

 

For all boys who plan on playing basketball this year and who missed this morning's meeting, please see Coach Cowles in room 229 before Friday afternoon

Girls Ice Hockey

In their second match-up this season, the Unionville Girls Ice Hockey team beat West Chester East 11-1 this past Friday night.  Making their debut in goal, Nina Impagliazzo and Kat Tuerff shared the net for Friday night's victory.    

 

Senior Hannah Close scored in the first minute of the game to start things off!   Madison Doucette lead the team with 6 goals and 1 assist, which has put her at the top of the ICSHL Girls League in points overall so far this season.  

Senior Kaelen Speck had a hat trick, Junior Madison Miles led the team with 4 assists, and Freshman Scarlet Ditoro had a goal and 3 assists in Friday Night's game.  

 

The girls take on Downingtown East on Friday Night @ 9:45 at Exton Power Play Rink.  

 

With the points from this past Friday's game, Madison Doucette earn her 200th point!  Those numbers include regular season, playoffs, and Flyers Cup since freshman year.   Congratulations Madison!
