UHS DAILY BULLETIN

EVENTS, ACTIVITIES, AND DEADLINES

 

Hardin Jefferson Week

October 23-27 is Hardin Jefferson Week at UHS! Please plan to wear your Red, white, and blue all week to support the Hardin Jefferson School District. We will be selling Spirit Mums, T-shirts, and baked goods. There will be raffles for various items all week, culminating in a day where Mr. Conley will be taped to a wall in the red, white, and blue tape of Hardin-Jefferson. Go Hawks and Go U!

 

TCHS

The Technical College High School will be at UHS on 11/17 to present about the programs they offer.  Please sign up in the Counseling Center to attend. The presentations will run as follows:

1st period: TCHS Career programs 

2nd period: Allied Health

3rd period: Teacher Academy

Please sign up in the Counseling Center by 11/16 if interested.

Bates Motel Haunted House

UTHON is selling discounted Bates Motel Haunted House tickets from now until Halloween!!!

The farm is located in Glen Mills and features a haunted house, haunted hayride and scare walk.

 

1-5 tickets is $35 each (a $5 savings), while 6 or more tickets are $30 each ($10 off per ticket)

Tickets are good for all 3 attractions, and any day the attractions are open.

Purchase tickets any Thursday at lunch or see Mrs. Dilworth in room 288 to purchase!

 All proceeds help kids and their families fight pediatric cancer.

 

 

International Club

If you are interested in traveling to Japan this summer, please bring a parent to a general interest meeting on Thursday, October 26th at 7pm

in Mrs. Lannon's room, 203.

THIS WEEK'S COLLEGE VISITS AT UHS 

Juniors and seniors are encouraged to participate in the college visits occurring during the fall months. A list of visits can be found on the Counseling Center website calendar, and in Naviance. Students should sign up for a pass in the Counseling Center at least one day before the visit.

SCHOLARSHIPS

New! The Pennsylvania Society Scholarship: For Pennsylvania high school seniors who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited, non-proprietary 4-year college or university which must be located within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for the entire 2018-2019 academic year. Awards are eligible for renewal for up to three years or until a bachelor's degree is earned.

Eligibility

·         Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

·         Have been an active participant in community and/or extracurricular activities.

·         Have demonstrated financial needs (a family adjusted gross income of $60,000 or less).

·         Be able to submit a completed Applicant Appraisal from a school counselor, teacher, work supervisor or a community or religious leader.

2017 ALL US SERVICE ACADEMY & ROTC INFORMATION NIGHT

Widener University - Alumni Hall

Tuesday, 24 October 2017 - Doors Open 6:30PM

Meet Representatives from: United States Military Academy, United States Naval Academy, United States Air Force Academy, United States Merchant Marine Academy,

United States Coast Guard Academy

 

Freshmen, sophomores and juniors are encouraged to attend to learn about the admissions process in advance. Seniors all ready applying to a Service Academy or ROTC scholarship are strongly urges to attend.

Registration is requested- visit the United States Military Academy website - www.usma.edu.  Under the admissions page fin the tab "admissions events in your area - Under the Northeast tab you will find the registration form.

EXPERIENCE UPENN YOUNG ALUMNI PANEL-October 11th at 7:00 pm, Great Valley High School. Hear from a Panel of young Penn alumni, about their campus and post graduate experience. 

 

 

VOLUNTEER & JOB OPPORTUNITIES (Listed in Counseling)

The 2nd annual Kennett Square Mushroom Cap Half Marathon will be taking place on Saturday November 4th.  They are actively seeking community members to help out. You will receive community/volunteer hours for all students who participate. More information in Counseling.

ATHLETICS

Wrestling

On Tuesday October 17, 2017 there will be a meeting for all students looking to join the Unionville High School wrestling team this winter.  The meeting will be held in the cafeteria LGI at 3:30pm.  The meeting will last approximately 30 minutes.

 

Cross Country

The cross-country program raced 3200 meters on the track last night.

 

The  boys team was led by 9:49 performances from James Conway and Cole Walker and put their top 5 under 10:12.  The girls team was led by a Madison McGovern 11:25 PR and put their top 5 under 12:16.

 

Both teams compete at home next Thursday in the Ches-Mont League Championship at Unionville. Come on out!
